    Mitchell is a city in and the county seat of Davison County, South Dakota, United States.Mitchell is the home to the Dakota Discovery Museum, whose mission is the history of the prairie and the people who settled it.

The Corn Palace in Mitchell was called The Corn Belt Exposition and was established in 1892.Early settlers displayed their harvests on the outside of the building to prove the fertility of South Dakota soil. The building is re-decorated annually with thousands of bushels of corn, grain,grasses, wild oats,brome grass, blue grass,rye, straw and wheat.
Located in an English style castle,complete with a moat, turrets, and a drawbridge, this museum houses over 4,000 antique and modern dolls from the early 1800`s to modern times.There are also 2,000 ethnic dolls from more than 125 countries.
Four art galleries are located in this museum that features original works and changing exhibits. You`ll also see Pulitzer prize winning author Hamlin Garland`s Middle Border history exhibits that range in dates from the year 1600 to 1939.
