    Erie is an industrial city on the shore of Lake Erie in the northwestern corner of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.More than four million people each year visit Presque Isle State Park,for water recreation,and a new casino named for the state park is growing in popularity.

Originally known as the Presque Isle Light Station,the first Erie Land Light built in 1818,along with the original Buffalo Lighthouse,was the first lighthouse on Lake Erie.A new 56-foot tower was opened in 1858 but was unstable.The 49-foot tall sandstone completed in 1869 was used until 1899.The adjacent 1867 keeper`s residence houses the park caretakers.
Home to over 400 animals,more than 200 species from around the world are represented at the Erie Zoo.These animals include polar bears,llamas, cheetahs,African mud turtles, alligators, penguins,African rhinos,Red pandas, Bornean orangutans, otters,giraffes, and pythons.The Botanical Gardens of Northwest Pennsylvania features 2,500 specimens from 600 species of plant.
Located along Lake Erie,this 3,200-acre national natural landmark park features a marina,over 15 miles of trails, boating,swimming, picnicking,hiking, and environmental education.
A family fun amusement and water park complex, Waldameer and Water World features amusement park rides,water park slides,live entertainment,an arcade,traditional midway games,food and refreshment centers,souvenir and gift shops,and several picnic groves.
