A large recreational complex is located at this State Park that is located on the beautiful 150-acre Lake Lowndes. A game room, indoor tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, three lighted softball fields, and six outdoor tennis courts are on site.
The first home of the South''s most prolific playwright now serves as the Welcome Center for Columbus and Lowndes County.
Listed on the National Register of Historical Places, this Greek Revival home is also a National Historical Landmark and is one of the most photographed antebellum homes in the South.
