    Arkansas City is a city situated at the confluence of the Arkansas and Walnut rivers in the southwestern part of Cowley County, located in south-central Kansas, in the central United States. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.5 square miles (19.5 km²), of which 7.5 square miles (19.5 km²) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²), or 0.27%, is water. Arkansas City is a shipping centre and a railroad junction with repair shops. Oil refining, tile manufacturing, flour milling, meat-packing, and food processing are important industries.Arkalalah is one of the many annual events in Arkansas City. Arkalalah is an Indian term meaning good times. Celebrated in late October, Arkalalah is Ark Citys annual fall festival. People from all around come to participate in the festivities, view the crowning of Queen Alalah, and see the Big Parade.
