    Vancouver is a city on the north bank of the Columbia River in the U.S. state of Washington and the county seat of Clark County.A two-time winner of the All-America City Award,supported by wood products, electronics, food processing, and the neighboring Portland economy, where many of Clark County`s 300,000 residents are employed. Besides serving as a Portland suburb and Washington`s I-5 gateway city, Vancouver enjoys a colorful history, kept alive by the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site and Officers` Row. Vancouver is also a gateway to recreational opportunities at nearby Mt. St. Helens and the Columbia River.Each Fourth of July, Vancouver hosts a fireworks display on the grounds of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site that draws many people to the city. The display, which typically runs for 45 minutes, is the largest west of the Mississippi River.

The Clark County Historical Museum in Vancouver features temporary exhibits on the history of the area. Check with the museum to see what exhibits are currently showing. Also of interest are the walking tours put on by the museum during the summer months.
Aviation history is on display at Pearson Air Museum. Exhibition areas offer a stunning collection of vintage airplanes, interpretive displays, an interactive children’s center, theater presentations, a restoration shop and gift shop.
The Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge offers over 5,000 acres of vital migration and wintering habitat for spring and fall migrating birds. The mild winter climate and wetlands along the Columbia River create ideal resting and feeding areas for 180 species of birds such as Canada Geese, Sandhill Cranes, Great Blue Herons, swans, shore and song birds, and a variety of waterfowl. Visitors can see these and other magnificent wildlife while driving the 4-mile auto tour or hiking along the two-mile Oaks to Wetlands Wildlife Trail year-round.
