    BELLINGHAM – a happy blend of industry, Victorian architecture and college-town liveliness – runs ten miles along a broad curve of Bellingham Bay, 85 miles north of Seattle and just eighteen miles south of the Canadian border.Bellingham, Washington is the county seat of Whatcom County in the U.S. state of Washington. It is the largest city in Whatcom County and eleventh largest in Washington.Bellingham is one of those places you can enjoy visiting for a weekend or for a month. The Mount Baker Ski Area is a ski resort located in Whatcom County, Washington. Mt. Baker offers a number of challenging routes and is also known for the backcountry opportunities it affords.
Located off scenic Chuckanut Drive near the Whatcom/Skagit County border, Larrabee State Park offers a tidal and wooded wilderness just minutes south of Bellingham. Established in 1915 as Washington''s first state park, Larrabee is also one of the largest spanning 2,683 acres, from sea level to 1,940 feet elevation, and occupies most of the west side of Chuckanut Mountain. Visitors to Larrabee may participate in various forms of recreation, including picnicking (67 picnic sites); boating; fishing, clamming and crabbing; hiking; camping, 8 walk-in and 26 trailer-hookup sites); water skiing and scuba diving.
This small park, located in the heart of the Chuckanut Mountains, provides a surprisingly wide range of things to enjoy. Swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and playground facilities are neatly arranged along the waterfront of Lake Samish. Only minutes from the parking lot is a seasonal waterfall that can be wonderful on rainy winter days. Hikers can enjoy a 1 to 2 mile walk through a mature fir forest that is considered exceptional for its clear understory.
A 241-acre (0.98 km2) park encompassing the Whatcom Creek gorge. The park, with its four sets of waterfalls and several miles of walking trails, is a hub of outdoor activity connecting and defining several different neighborhoods in the city. Noted activities include swimming, fishing.
