The Chinese Temple of Kwan Tia in Mendocino was built in 1852 and is the oldest Chinese temple on the north coast.
The mid-19th-century home of Jerome Bursley Ford, the founder of Mendocino, today serves as a visitors center on the region.
Also worth a visit are Kelly House, built 1861 (45006 Albion Street), now a local museum and library, and MacCallum House, dated 1882.
Today Mendocino boasts a number of galleries, the best known of which is the Mendocino Art Center, where exhibitions, concerts and theatrical productions are held, and instruction is also given in various branches of art.
The Light Station is made up of the Lighthouse itself and three original lightkeepers'' houses and outbuildings. The 300-acre preserve consists of meadows and bluffs.

Van Damme State Park is four miles south of Mendocino on the northern California Coast. Half of the campsites sits along Little River Creek in a lush fern canyon and the other half are on the top of a hill, circling a large grassy meadow.The setting at Van Damme is beautiful. The canyon is lush and green year round. You can hear the sound of Little River creek in all of the lower campsites. The redwood trees tower all around you. Kids can ride their bikes or walk up Fern Canyon. You can walk to the beach.
