  • Description

    It is the capital of the state of Perak.The name Ipoh comes from Epau tree, a colossal poisonous jungle tree that used to be very common in the area. Being the 3rd largest city in Malaysia, it is divided into two parts, Old Town and New Town by Kinta River.Ipoh famous tourist destination include The Perak Tong, Sam Poh Tong, Kek Lok Tong, Ipoh Railway Station, Darul Ridzuan Museum, Birch Memorial Tower, Geological Museum & D.R. Seenivasagam Park.

The Geological Museum was established in 1957 to house collection of over 60 mineral samples. It is renowned for its exhibition of tin ore, including the best specimen of cassiterite (tin ore or tin oxide) in the world.
At the cave temple`s entrance, climb up to the Three Sages in the central cavern. At the back of the cave is a fat Chinese Buddha of Future Happiness sitting in the company of three other Bodhisattvas. Behind the cave is an ornamental garden with ponds and pagodas.
The Sam Poh Tong, is the largest of the cave temples nested within the high limestone caves and cavities near Gunung Rapat, just 5km south of Ipoh. The temple is an impressive work of art and faith, with beautiful craved statues of Buddha in various forms in a backdrop of unusual formations of stalactites and stalagmites.
