  • Description

This small town of Kandaghat came into prominence when the Maharaja of Patiala was expelled from Shimla and he took refuge in Kandaghat, a small town on the Kalka - Shimla highway. The Maharaja, Bhupinder Singh built a palace here which still stands as a reminder to the glorious past of the hey days of the town. The palace, which has been converted in a women's Polytechnic, still retains the few rooms for the royalties. The ruler also encouraged his subjects to come and settle down in Kandaghat and the nearby Chail. The picturesque views of the scenic beauty from here makes anyone take some time out to see the enthralling beauty while on the way to Shimla from Kalka. There is also a Shiva Temple to visit which dates back to 17th century.
