Another town in Karnataka that makes a good base for exploring the neighbourhood, Hospet. Hospet is about 325 kms from the capital city of Bangalore and just 13 kms away from the medieval historical site of Hampi. The ruins of Vijayanagar, Hampi is the world heritage site and is full of surprises. While on the road from Bangalore to Hospet, comes the quaint little town of Chitradurga and is a must visit for the traveler. Chitradurga has an imposing fort built by the great Hyder Ali and added by his son Tipu Sultan.
