The Degli Ulivi Park in Lugano rests on the shores of Lake Lugano and provides an idyllic walking or relaxing place amongst the various Mediterranean style trees and flowers. One can also find a cafe in the park from where to enjoy a coffee while breathing in the fresh mountainous air and enjoying the view of Lake Lugano.
The pyramid-shaped, wooded mountain, to the south of Lake Lugano in Canton Ticino is regarded as the best fossil record of marine life from the Triassic Period (245–230 million years ago).Diverse marine life flourished within this lagoon, including reptiles, fish, bivalves, ammonites, echinoderms and crustaceans.
Originally the church belonged to a convent. It rescues the most famous Renaissance wall painting of Switzerland.
In Castagnola, to the east of Lugano, is the Villa Favorita, which boasts one of the finest private picture galleries in Europe, the Schloss Rohoncz Collection, belonging to Baron Heinrich von Thyssen-Bonemisza.
