    Davos is a municipality in the district of Prattigau/Davos in the canton of Graubunden, Switzerland. It is known as a winter sports area, including serving as the site of the annual Spengler Cup ice hockey tournament, which is hosted by the HC Davos local hockey team.Davos is regarded as one of Europe''''''''s oldest mountain resorts. It established itself as a health resort in 1860 and as a sports center in 1930.

The chief place of the valley is Davos Platz,the only old buildings in which are the parish church of St John the Baptist, with a window in the choir by Augusto Giacometti (after 1928), and the adjoining Rathaus (Town Hall: restored 1930), with the panelled "Great Chamber" (Grosse Stube) of 1564.
This museum represents the largest collection of works by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in the world. The German expressionist painter, a leading figure in his time, moved to Davos in 1917 and remained there until he died.
Visitors can view a post-office carriage, a shoemaker''s workshop and an exhibition describing the tuberculosis sanatoriums typical of Davos. A collection of furniture, clocks and tools can be seen.
In summer the postal bus runs up the Sertig valley to Sertig Dorfli,in a superb mountain setting (a popular trip with walkers, plant-lovers and animal lovers).
